Uganda Airlines plans to start new flights soon at Hargeisa’s Egal airport, according to Uganda Airlines director Cornwell Muleya.
“With the addition of the new aircraft to the fleet, the carrier will expand its route network to cover several other destinations in Southern and Central Africa,”Muleya said.
He added that nine new flights will added to the airlines route, this includes Kinshasa, Zanzibar, Asmara in Eritrea, Hargeisa(Somaliland), Lusaka, Harare, Johannesburg Djibouti and Addis Ababa.
It’s not clear whether the flights are direct or not, As Mr. Muleya did not give details on the Hargeisa flights.
The federal government of Somalia who is now in charged of the Somalia airspace has not commented on this new deal yet.
It’s a welcomed move to have an additional airline go to Hargeisa, as that will bring more competition and lower prices to the consumers.
